Educational Opportunities Available Through RDI²

Education and training programs offered by RDI² and its affiliate partners foster the next generation of data science researchers and professionals through classroom teaching and laboratory training for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, visiting scientists, and industry professionals.

In addition to hosting educational programs for students at all levels, including K-12 outreach programs, RDI² offers graduate fellowships and research internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Student employment opportunities are available throughout the year.

Advanced undergraduate students can also take courses toward The Graduate Certificate in CDS&E is a crossdisciplinary graduate program administered by RDI² and the Master of Business and Science (MBS) program. The goal of the program is to provide the necessary structures, learning opportunities, and experiences, beyond the more traditional university curriculum, that are necessary to drive science, engineering, and business using advances in cyberinfrastructure. The program is comprised of new and existing Rutgers courses that, collectively, give students a multidisciplinary experience and include foundational and applied courses spanning modeling and computation, algorithms, advanced computation, data management and analysis, visualization, software, and multidisciplinary collaborations.

The Graduate Certificate in CDS&E is a crossdisciplinary graduate program administered by RDI² and the Master of Business and Science (MBS) program. The Master of Business & Science degree (MBS) is part of the national Professional Science Master’s degree program, designed to provide academically rigorous, job focused graduate education that can help you launch – or accelerate – your career in a science or engineering industry. It combines a Master’s of Science with hands-on learning, business courses and networking opportunities in a flexible format customized to your career goals.

The Graduate Certificate in Discovery Informatics is a crossdisciplinary graduate program administered by RDI2 and the Master of Business and Science (MBS) program. The goal of the program is to train students for data-driven decision making and its applications to a range of domains including science, engineering, and business. Students obtain a variety of skills including the ability to manage and analyze very large data sets, develop modeling solutions to support decision making, and develop a good understanding of how data analysis drives decision making. The program is comprised of new and existing Rutgers courses that, collectively, give students a multidisciplinary experience and include foundational and applied courses spanning modeling and computation, algorithms, advanced computation, data management and analysis, statistics, machine learning, visualization, software, and multidisciplinary collaborations.

The Graduate Certificate in Computational & Data-Enabled Science and Engineering is now open to students from industry and post-doctoral fellows. RDI2s is also preparing a variety of half-day modules on cloud computing, data analytics, high-performance computing, Linux system management, and other salient topics. These modules will be targeted to specific industries to ensure that participants gain industry-specific skills and insights. Please check back frequently for updates!
