Advanced computing and data cyberinfrastructure (ACI) are playing increasingly important roles in all areas of computational and data-enabled science and engineering (CDS&E). To be internationally competitive, it is critical that Rutgers develops and implements a bold plan for a research ACI ecosystem that can drive innovation, improve research capabilities and productivity, provide students with necessary exposure and training, and enhance faculty and student competitiveness. The anticipated benefit of such a plan and associated research ACI investments is a substantial increase in the scale, quality, and impact of science and engineering research at Rutgers.
A key component of the planning process is assessing research ACI requirements and ACI-enabled opportunities at Rutgers. This will be achieved during the 2013 - 2014 academic year through a set of working groups and a sequence of open forums involving the broader Rutgers community. An overview of the process is presented below.
NOTE: The initial Open Forum, was originally scheduled for September 18th, but has been postponed until later in the semester to ensure that strategic planning in this area is aligned with President Barchi’s broader strategic planning efforts and timeline.
