Strategic Initiatives

Combining leadership in research, expertise, advanced tools and algorithms, and advanced cyberinfrastructure ecosystems, RDI2 is strategically positioned to engage leading academic and industry researchers in innovative, interdisciplinary collaborations. Since its founding, RDI2 has engaged in interdisciplinary research with researchers across Rutgers, as well as with researchers at universities, national laboratories and industry in New Jersey, the US, and internationally.

RDI² has led many strategic ACI initiatives including: the National Science Foundation Ocean Observatories Initiative - CyberInfrastructure (OOI), NSF Virtual Data Collaboratory (VDC) and NSF Regional Cyberinfrastructure for Collaborative Data Intensive Science (DIBBS), as well as ACI leadership at the university and in the state including the establishment of the Rutgers Office of Advanced Research and Computing (OARC) and establishment of the New Jersey Big Data Alliance (NJBDA).

RDI2 currently serves 27 departments, 12 schools and 5 campuses. In addition to government sponsors, including National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Health (NIH), Deportment of Energy (DOE), a non-exhaustive list of industry partners have included: IBM, Ericsson, and XEROX.
