We recommend air travel to the Newark, New Jersey International Airport (EWR). Kennedy (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) the other New York airports are also used, but they add at least two hours travel time and considerable expense.

From Newark Airport to NSFCAC@RU:

The NJTransit Northeast Corridor Line now offers convenient train service from Newark International Airport to Metropark, New Brunswick, Princeton Junction, and other stations. For details, see NJTransit's interactive schedule and fare site.

Shuttles from Newark Airport may be reserved through Supershuttle. ; estimated travel time is one hour.

State Shuttle is a shared van service. Call 800-427-3207 (US), 732-542-6505, or 973-729-0030 to make a reservation. Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance and require a credit card. To make reservations on-line, go to the State Shuttle Web site:

TaxiCab service at the airport: To NSFCAC@RU: ask for Busch Campus of Rutgers University; located in Piscataway. Ask the driver to enter on Metlars Lane (See Driving Directions to the CoRE Building ). Cost (2008) about $75.00. In the US, tipping cab drivers a dollar or two is standard.

By Car From Newark Airport: Take NJ Turnpike (Toll Road) South from Airport. Get off Turnpike at Exit 9 to Route 18 N and follow directions at Driving Directions to the CoRE Building . Alternately, take Exit 10 to 287 North and follow directions at Driving Directions to the CoRE Building .

From Newark or Kennedy Airport:

Visit Amtrak on their website.

From Penn Station in New York City; or from Penn Station in Newark, Ride to New Brunswick on Amtrak or New Jersey Transit. New Jersey Transit costs less and is more frequent. Taxi services are familiar with University area. Ask for CoRE Bldg (behind Hill Center, on Busch Campus). Otherwise, two blocks behind station are Campus Bus Services. "Behind" is a bit confusing; ask a student where to catch a campus bus.

Contact: Amtrak: 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) in US or Canada (Use an international travel agent from other places.) Cost between New York and New Brunswick is $18.00 one-way.

From Philadelphia

From 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, use SEPTA train to Trenton, NJ; transfer to NJ Transit and proceed as above. Amtrak is a costlier option.

Transportation by Bus

From New York City, Port Authority.

Suburban Transit Bus Lines. Call: 732-249-1100. Buses leave from Port Authority gate #420 every half hour up to 11:00 PM; last bus at 1:00 AM.
